It’s a Closed Catalan where white attempts to embarrass Nepomniachtchi’s light-squared bishop in an Alpha Zero-like manner. An imbalance surfaces at the tail end of the middlegame with Carlsen down not only an exchange, but also a pawn. Would Carlsen’s deeply entrenched knight on d6, and black’s queen bishop still stuck behind its own pawns provide enough compensation for the Carlsen’s material loss?
